the only lan i'd go to any more would be a 'vrc' lan, as any other lans are stupid and not worth moving the computer (why bother with a solid cable connection)

Rum..... you're dreaming again. I'd be shocked if a Lan actually was assembled.

Side note :

It's very likely we'll be moved to Michigan sometime between the end of May and September. While I would consider travelling the distance from here to there.... there's no way it'd happen once we're 2 1/2 hours further over in Michigan.

It ought to be interesting. If we buy a place on a lake I can pretty much forget cable internet. Going back to 56k would absolutely suck after getting used to cable the last three years.

Hmmm... if we don't end up on a lake...i suppose there may be some towns where dsl or cable are an option. I can't really confirm that at the present time.

Eh... guess I'll just have to go fishing, skiing, canoeing, swimming, etc...to pass the time. ;-)

That would be AWFUL!
